Ternate Held Legu Gam Early April

Keraton Ternate Sultanate held a party of the people of North Maluku, Legu Gam, on 1-17 April 2010 to attract the minimum of a 20,000 tourist arrivals into the area.

"This is one of our efforts to attract more tourist visit to Ternate," said the originator of Legu Gam, Empress Sultanate of Ternate, Boki Ratu Nita Budhi Susanti, in a press conference in Building stepping on Wednesday.

Legu Gam is a party of the people of Ternate people who already held regularly in the last seven years as the anniversary of the Sultan of Ternate and this year to welcome the Emperor's birthday 75th.




"In our Malut has 29 tribes with 60 regional languages, with all sorts of existing tourism potential ranging from cultural tourism, marine tourism, historical tourism, culinary tourism up," She said.

She argued, since the days of yore, Ternate renowned worldwide as the island's rich spices so that the most widely visited by European sailors. Legu Gam which has been in the national tourism agenda every year has a strategic value in promoting local culture Moluku, Kie Raha, amid strikes foreign cultures.

"The theme this year is 'Building the Economy Through the Indigenous Peoples Seatorang'," She said.
 
In that event, will host a number of activities including exhibitions, seminars, and promotion, particularly in relation to the local community economy.

Meanwhile, the Sultan of Ternate to-48, Jo Ou Kalano Mudaffar Sjah Sultan, said Gam Legu can become an arena to display the custom and tradition of Ternate to the outside world, including people overseas.

"We know that tourism can generate a sense of nationalism, in addition, Legu Gam is also one of them to improve the nation's cultural values," he said.

Marketing Director General of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Sapta Nirwandar, said it has allocated 500 million to support the festival's success.

"Legu Gam has been listed in the calendar of national events and the future of tourism is expected to be an attractive package of visit to Ternate," he said.

He added that the Sultanate of Ternate has Malut especially famous in the world as a spice island.

"Ternate also has one of hundreds fort known as Fort Orange the first fort built in Indonesia when the Dutch colonial in search of spices in the Moluccas around 15-16 century BC," he said.
