Head Sentarum Lake National Park, Soewignyo, said in October 2009, will launch a promotional tour package Sentarum Lake National Park (TNDS) which has been designated as "Heart of Borneo", or the heart of Borneo.

He target, approximately 500 tourists in 2010 visited TNDS with an estimated turnover of about USD 5 billion. "Promotion is TNDS tour packages to support tourism visit to West Kalimantan 2010," he said.

TNDS been known as a representative of wetland ecosystem of the lake, freshwater swamp forest and tropical rain forest in Borneo. Seasonal lake in the TNDS lies in the Kapuas River basin, about 700 kilometers from the estuary to the South China Sea. The area was a water catchment area, their function as water for the river basin (DAS) Kapuas. Kapuas Hulu District has an area of protected areas, national parks and protected forests around 1,626,868 hectares or 54.59 percent, forest cultivation area of about 764,543 hectares or 25.65 per cent and agricultural cultivation area rather than 588,481 hectares around the lake, or 19.75 percent, and the area around 17,925 hectares of the lake.

Head of Culture and Tourism of West Kalimantan Province, Kamaruzzaman said it could target to attract foreign tourists to the province as much as 26 thousand in the year 2009.
